Our President is leaving...

Chris, our illustrious President, is leaving us in the new year to work OS. A sincere thank you to Chris for all his efforts over the past year. We wish him the greatest success in the future and a smooth transition for him and his family. Chris and his wife Gaby have been long term committee members of RTL and will be greatly missed.

So we are looking for a new President! The role comes with all the benefits a president could wish for... an eager committee to work with, unlimited borrowings from RTL and the adulation of all your peers! We've been doing a lot of work with our local community this year so the opportunity to give back in your locality is enormously rewarding. Please contact Sue if you or someone you know may be interested

Holiday ideas

These are just a few of the many activities in and around Melbourne over the holidays.

Docklands Library
This could be your new favourite venue when the weather isn't behaving... The Library at the Dock.
This unique space hosts an extensive traditional and digital library collection for enjoyment on site or to borrow, free WiFi, recording studio, creative editing suites, community meeting spaces, study areas, performance venue for over 120 people, gallery space, digital gaming, interactive projections for children and a fully-equipped performance space... and a cafe! It's worth going just to look at the architecture and view. To get there, take the 48 or 11 tram (Stop D18). For more info contact library@melbourne.vic.gov.au or phone 9658 9998.

Federation Bells
1st – 25th December

Hear the Federation Bells chime their way through your favourite Christmas carols this festive season down in Birrarung Marr. View the full schedule for a complete list of songs and times at www.federationbells.com.au/ whats-playing-at-the-bells

Werribee Zoo
Hippo Beach opens Sat 20th December

Feel the sand between your toes at our new Hippo Beach, as you dig for buried treasure under the shade of thatched umbrellas. Watch our hippos as they snooze on the bank and splash through the water, then hit the relax button and find a deck chair to enjoy or swing with the summer breeze in a comfy hammock. Be sure to pack the kids’ bathers for a cooling splash through the Zoo’s hippo water play area, just next to the beach. Remember kids are FREE over Victorian Government Holidays. Visit www.zoo.org.au/werribee for more info.

Healesville Sanctuary
Kid's Nature Play

Splash into summer at the Sanctuary! Chill out in the misty spray zones, wade through the Badger Creek Sprinkler Spray and discover how animals keep cool over the warmer months. The space features an eye-catching array of natural materials to create different zones and the twisting path symbolises Mindi, the Giant Snake from the Dreamtime. Giant mounds covered in rocks and logs create the perfect grounding for kids to climb and explore, while the largest mound that features the huge nest of Bunjil the eagle provides an elevated lookout for kids to survey their surrounds. With tunnels, sand play, a dry creek bed and sensory garden, Kid’s Nature Play offers kids of all ages the chance for adventure. Remember kids are again FREE over Victorian Government Holidays. Visit www.zoo.org.au/healesville for more info.

Thank you for enjoying Richmond Toy Library with us again this year. Wishing you all a wonderful festive season and we hope to see you again soon in the new year...

Best wishes from the RTL Committee; Chris Abelskamp, Sue Davies, Jessie Robson, Tansy Lewis-Lyons, Elaine Dunwoody, Rachael Jackson, Sonia Doherty, Gabrielle Abelskamp and Lou Johnson.
